A beech ladder and a barrel that travels on linear slides, so the gap between them adjusts smoothly to torso length and exercise. BASI rates it as the longest adjustment track in the category.
The detail that matters in a busy studio is that adjustment is hand-controlled and done standing. There is no crouching to find a pin and no lifting the barrel to a new notch, which means the apparatus gets adjusted properly for each client instead of being left where the last one had it.
At 49 lb it is one of the lighter pieces BASI builds, so it works in homes as well as studios. Springs are not included with the base barrel. Prepared ports accept the F2 System if you want spring-resisted barrel work, and the F2 levers then double as weight-bearing handles.
What's Included:
- Ladder barrel comprising ladder, barrel and frame
- 1 standing platform
Features
Adjusted standing, by hand
The barrel slides to the distance you want while you stand beside it. No pins, no crouching, no lifting, which is why it actually gets adjusted between clients.

Longest adjustment track in the category
Per BASI. The practical effect is that both a short torso and a tall one can be set up properly on the same apparatus.

Linear slides, not notches
The barrel rides on slides for smooth, even travel, so positioning is continuous rather than a choice between a few fixed distances.

Continuous curved cushion
Orthopaedic padding runs as one unbroken curve under non-slip antibacterial vinyl, which is what you feel in extension work over the top.

Platform folds out of the way
The standing platform moves clear when the exercise does not use it, keeping the floor around the barrel usable.

Prepared for F2 spring work
Ports are built in. Adding an F2 kit turns the barrel into a resistance station and the levers into handles for weight-bearing positions.

Installation
It arrives part-built
BASI crates its apparatus partly assembled. The frame comes as a unit and you fit the components that ship loose, typically the footbar, ropes, pulleys, spring holders and any tower or trapeze structure supplied with your configuration. Standard hand tools cover it and the fixings are in the box.
Two people, and time
Budget two to four hours for the larger frames and one to three for a plain reformer, with two people throughout. Weight rather than complexity is the reason. These frames run from roughly 150 lb to 330 lb and none of them should be carried alone.
Measure the route, not just the room
Freight arrives kerbside. Before delivery day, check the doorway widths, any turn at the top of a stairwell, and the ceiling height against the tower or trapeze figure in the specification table. Reversing a delivery costs far more than a tape measure.
Bed the machine in before you load it
Once assembled, run the carriage end to end several times to seat the wheels, confirm both ropes are the same length, and check that the footbar and spring holders lock positively in every position before working at full spring load.
Resources
Warranty, Shipping and Returns
The manufacturer's cover is split by material rather than sold as one headline number. Ten years applies to the main wooden frame and structural woodwork. Two years applies to steel and aluminium profiles and components, to F2 hardware, to springs and to plastic parts and fasteners. One year applies to elastomer-coated contact parts, a group that includes the footbar, hand bar, pedals, stoppers, handles and wheels. Ninety days applies to the mat, the upholstery and every fabric accessory. Cover starts on the invoice date, stays with the original purchaser and is not transferable.
Note the maintenance clause attached to it. Springs on spring-loaded apparatus are wear parts, and BASI expects them replaced every two years, or after 3,000 hours of use if that comes sooner.
We ship free anywhere in the United States. Anything crated moves by freight and the carrier will call to book a window with you. Expect a kerbside handover rather than an in-room placement, so line up a second pair of hands and measure the doorways first. Accessories and spare parts go parcel and usually land inside 7 to 10 business days after dispatch.
Check every carton against the paperwork before signing for it. Damage or a missing box must be recorded on the Proof of Delivery there and then, and claimed inside five business days.
Unused equipment can come back within 30 days of delivery in its original packaging. There is no restocking fee, refunds clear within 7 business days of arrival and a cancellation costs nothing while the order is still at the factory.
About BASI Systems
BASI Systems is the manufacturing arm behind BASI Pilates, the teacher training organisation Rael Isacowitz started. Equipment and curriculum are developed together, which is why the catalogue reads as one system rather than a set of separate products. Prepared F2 ports on nearly every apparatus are the clearest sign of it.
The material specification is the same at every price point: beech hardwood frames, aircraft-grade aluminium anywhere something slides or takes load, orthopaedic padding beneath anti-slip antibacterial vinyl. Patent US 10,393,163 B2 protects the spring positioning system.
