Peak Pilates fit Reformer with its long/short box, a powder-coated aluminium studio reformer

Peak Pilates Reformers: Wood Line vs Metal Line

Peak Pilates builds its reformers in two families that share a spring layout and little else. The Artistry line is solid wood made with classical studios in mind. The metal line covers the casa, fit and MVe, three aluminium machines aimed at homes, gyms and group rooms. Knowing which family suits your space narrows the choice quickly.

What sets the Artistry wood line apart?

The Artistry is Peak's classical reformer, handcrafted in solid beechwood or walnut around a redesigned steel carriage. It measures 90 in long and 26 in wide, weighs 157 lb and carries a recommended maximum user weight of 300 lb. Its footbar locks in four positions and the headrest sets at three angles.

The carriage is the reason many studios pick it. A flip mechanism lets the same reformer take twin mats or a tower later, so an Artistry can grow into the TWS, which adds a half Cadillac tower 73 in high. The FWS goes further with an aluminium tower that can be worked from both sides. Strap packages come as rope and riser, leather or vegan synthetic.

How do the casa, fit and MVe differ?

They differ in intended use and storage. The casa is a home machine with a 250 lb user rating that Peak does not recommend for commercial or high-traffic studios. The fit is a full studio height reformer that stacks four high or stands on end. The MVe is the longest at 103 in and nests for group floors.

  • casa: extruded aluminium rails with aluminium and wood end panels, 97 in by 25 in, integrated transport wheels and a one-hand gear bar with four positions.
  • fit: powder-coated aluminium, 97 in by 25 in, a side split standing platform with grip pads and black or grey upholstery.
  • MVe: powder-coated aluminium, 103 in by 29 in, 135 lb, rated to 300 lb, with retractable shoulder blocks and risers that tuck away when not needed.

Stacking and storage on the metal line

Stacking is where the MVe earns its floor space. The units nest four high with their legs still on, which suits a studio that clears the room between classes. An MVe tower conversion turns one unit into a reformer, tower and mat station, although a reformer with its tower fitted no longer stacks.

Springs and accessories across both families

Every Peak reformer here runs five springs: one red heavy, two yellow and two blue. On the Artistry a gear bar lets a studio move between a four spring and a five spring setup. Shared colors make it simpler to teach across both lines, but a replacement spring should still be ordered for the exact machine.

Accessories split by family too. The casa, fit and MVe share one jump board, while the Artistry has its own standard board plus a dancer board with a wider stance. Most configurations include a long/short box measuring 27.5 by 16 by 9.5 in. Taller clients may prefer a larger box.

Which Peak reformer fits which buyer?

The casa suits home practice, the fit and MVe suit studios that need to clear the floor and the Artistry suits classical teaching. A home user under 250 lb is well served by the casa. A teacher who wants wood, leather straps and room to add a tower later usually lands on the Artistry.

Strap choice matters less than frame and storage at this stage. It can be settled once the family is chosen, since each Artistry configuration differs mainly in its strap package.
